Descriptions of Positional Vacancies
President - Elect
The KansABA President shall serve as a member of the Executive Committee. The President represents the Association, as a whole, at the KansABA Executive Committee meetings, KansABA general business meetings, and other KansABA sponsored events, as well as at other professional-organization events (e.g., the Association for Behavior Analysis International, Behavior Analysis Certification Board) and on any Kansas governance committees and boards (e.g., the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board). This is a voting position.
The specific duties of the President are:
- Oversee the overall operation of KansABA as an association.
- Attend, chair, and preside at all Business Meetings and attend and chair all KansABA Executive Council Meetings (the Secretary presides at the latter).
- Present opening and closing statements at the KansABA annual conferences, as well as its receptions, unless otherwise delegated.
- Deliver any Presidential Addresses (as necessary).
- President Elect - Objectively review posters for the Annual Conference and send out acceptance/rejection notification.
Full Member Representative - Elect
The KansABA Full-Member Representative shall serve as a member of the Executive Committee. The Full-Member Representative represents those within the behavior-analytic community who meet criteria for KansABA full membership at the KansABA Executive Committee meetings, KansABA general business meetings, and other KansABA sponsored events. This is a voting position.
The specific duties of the Full-Member Representative are:
- Participate in determining the policies of the Association within the limits prescribed by the bylaws of the Association and the bylaws of the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
- Fill any vacancies that occur during the term of any Officer or Representative of the Association by electing another Officer or Representative to serve for the unexpired portion of the term.
Adjunct Member Representative - Elect
The KansABA Adjunct-Member Representative shall serve as a member of the Executive Committee. The Adjunct-Member Representative represents those within the behavior-analytic community who meet criteria for KansABA adjunct membership at the KansABA Executive Committee meetings, KansABA general business meetings, and other KansABA sponsored events. This is a voting position.
The specific duties of the Adjunct-Member Representative are:
- Participate in determining the policies of the Association within the limits prescribed by the bylaws of the Association and the bylaws of the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
- Recruit new members to KansABA through emails, arranging a presentation for new ABS students in the fall of each year.
Student Member Representative - Elect
The KansABA Student-Member Representative shall serve as a member of the Executive Committee. The Student-Member Representative represents those within the behavior analytic community who meet criteria for KansABA student membership at the KansABA Executive Committee meetings, KansABA general business meetings, and other KansABA sponsored events. This is a voting position.
The specific duties of the Student-Member Representative are:
- Participate in determining the policies of the Association within the limits prescribed by the bylaws of the Association and the bylaws of the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
- Chair and serve on the Conference Committee.
- Coordinate with the University of Kansas’ Graduate Student Organization for help with events (e.g., annual conference, CEU events).
- Take on additional tasks (as necessary).
Treasurer - Elect
The KansABA Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the finances of KansABA in support of the KansABA Executive Committee. The Treasurer attends all Executive Committee meetings and KansABA general business meetings. This is not a voting position.
The specific duties of the Treasurer are:
- Maintain financial records for all KansABA transactions, including the bank account and the PayPal account.
- Make payments on behalf of KansABA.
- Submit a financial report for review at the KansABA Annual Business Meeting.
- Take on additional tasks (as necessary).
Secretary - Elect
The KansABA Secretary is responsible for the organization of KansABA Executive Committee meetings (e.g., email reminders, creation of meeting agenda, online meeting agendas) and the organization of Google Drive materials. The Secretary attends all KansABA-sanctioned meetings. This is not a voting position.
The specific duties of the Secretary are:
- Attend and preside at all KansABA Executive Council Meetings, and attend all KansABA general business meetings (the President presides at the latter), taking detailed notes at all meetings.
- Submit meeting agendas and meeting minutes to all members of KansABA Executive Committee, committee chairs, and those in attendance.
- Update and maintain KansABA’s membership list and members’ contact information.
- Management of, and responding within, KansABA’s official email account.
Information Technology Chair - Elect
The KansABA Information Technology Chair, and subsequent committee, shall facilitate communication of the work of KansABA to the community. This is not a voting position.
The specific duties of the Information Technology Committee Chair are:
- Update KansABA’s website, Facebook, and other social media pages, particularly with relation to the annual conference and updates on legislative affairs in Kansas.
- Manage online registration for the Annual Conference through PayPal.
Professional Development Chair - Elect
The KansABA Professional Development Board Chair, and subsequent committee, shall provide training and experience activities for the constituents of KansABA that result in behavior-analytic continuing education credits. This is not a voting position.
The specific duties of the Professional Development Board Chair are:
- Identify, contact, and arrange speakers for three quarterly KansABA Mini Conferences (the annual conference replaces the Mini Conference for one quarter)
- Organize and host the KansABA Mini Conferences.
- Maintain records of attendance at both the Mini Conferences and Annual Conference (for those receiving CEUs).
- Issue certificates as proof of attendance for all respective participants, following each training event.
Legislative Committee Chair - Elect
The KansABA Legislative Chair, and subsequent committee, shall monitor and share information with the Executive Committee regarding local and national legislative activities. This is not a voting position.
The specific duties of the Legislative Chair are:
- Keep abreast of Kansas legislative efforts in relation to ABA.
- Attend appropriate activities at the national conference to ensure KansABA Executive Committee receives updates on activities.
- Serve as Chair of the Legislative Committee.
- Attend KansABA Executive Committee meetings when requested.
Professional Development Committee
- Members of this committee support the chair in providing training and experience activities for members of KansABA that result in behavior-analytic continuing education credits. Specific responsibilities would include helping facilitate quarterly workshops.
- This would most likely be in-person work at one or more of the workshop events throughout the year (there are 3 total each year). Activities would include making nametags, setting up the event, breaking down the event, checking in guests, and other similar activities.
Conference Committee
- Members of this committee support the KansABA Executive Counsel in facilitating the annual KansABA conference.
- This would most likely include remote work before the annual conference and/or in-person work at the annual conference (one each year). Activities would include making nametags, surveys, programs, and other materials needed for the conference, creating giftbags for speakers & award winners, ordering and organizing supplies, setting up the event, breaking down the event, checking in guests, and other similar activities on the day of the conference.
Information Technology Committee
- Members of this committee support the chair in facilitating communication of the work of KansABA to the community.
- This would most likely be remote work through the year as needed and as you are available. Activities would include checking the email account, pulling lists of members/attendees from the website for events, helping the chair update the website as needed, creating communication materials to be distributed to members of KansABA, and other similar activities.
Legislative Committee
- Members of this committee support the chair in monitoring and sharing information with the Executive Counsel regarding local and national legislative activities.
- This would most likely include remote work throughout the year as needed and as you are available. Activities would include researching Kansas legislative efforts in relation to ABA, attending local or national conferences/gatherings to receive updates on relevant activities, creating communication materials to be distributed to members of KansABA, and other similar activities.
